The chapel was built in 1894 and was consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The chapel was built according to the plans of an architect from Budapest, Ákos Radits, on the grounds where earlier another chapel used to stand. A large part of the building expenditures were covered by the inheritance of Mihály Dornyai. Count Tasziló Festetics contributed to the construction works by providing building material, while the inhabitants of Diás covered the costs of the furnishing.
The polychrome altar was built by József Runggaldier in a Renaissance style in the year 1914.
